Patient Journey
- 1) 3 to 4 days before your appointment you will be contacted and asked a series of Covid 19 questions and medical questions. These will be used to assess whether you are showing Covid 19 symptoms or if you are in any of the at risk groups.
- 2) The day before your appointment we will contact you again to repeat the Covid 19 questions.
- 3) On the day of your appointment we ask you to come on your own if at all possible. Bring as few personal possessions as possible and try and use the toilet before you come as access to these facilities will be limited.
- 4) On arrival the door to the practice will be locked . We ask that you remain in your car or outside the practice and contact the reception by phone to tell us you have arrived.
- 5) When you are invited in , the receptionist will take your temperature if this exceeds 37.8’c you may be asked to postpone your appointment for at least seven days.
- 6) You will be then asked sanitise your hands , leave personal possessions such as mobile phones , keys, coat etc in a box which will be stored safely in reception. You will be asked to put a pair of gloves on and if not wearing one already a face mask. Covers will also be given to place over your shoes.
- 7) You will be escorted to the surgery where Simon and the dental nurse will be waiting. Do not be alarmed when you see them as they will be wearing additional protective equipment to what you would normally expect.
- 8) You will be asked to rinse with a disinfectant mouth rinse which is proven effective against the coronavirus.
- 9) Following your consultation the reception nurse will escort you back to the exit where you will remove your gloves etc and collect your possessions. You will be asked to sanitise your hands again.
- 10) Any follow up appointments will be made later by phone and we ask if any payments are due that they be made either by phone before the appointment or by card payment preferably contactless where possible. If you need to pay by cash please let the receptionist know during your pre assessment and she will give you the necessary instructions.
We realise these guidelines are not what you are used to but hope that you understand these measures are in place for your personal safety and for protection of practice staff.
